Serial Smithery is…

a place for crime fiction, the occasional mystery, and a bit of science fiction. It’s where I can workshop serialized versions of short stories before sending them for publication, while connecting with readers who can provide a little feedback as I progress toward a full-length novel.

Who am I?

I am writer of little renown and minimal training, but one who knows better than most the genre in which I write. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, my education and career took me into the field of criminal justice, then into the college classroom, instead of through a creative writing program. My writing has grown with practice, resulting in a recent publication in the Mystery Tribune and a growing number (I’m up to 100+ now!) of monthly subscribers right here on Substack.
